50 Years of Impact

An in-depth look at the remarkable history of Sesame Street and the non-profit behind it

Sesame Street debuted in 1969 and has made a positive impact in children’s lives ever since. With a mission to help kids everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder, Sesame Workshop brings critical early education to children in 150+ countries. We also reach children in need through social impact programs addressing everything from  HIV/AIDS education in South Africa to traumatic experiences like homelessness and foster care in the U.S.

Have a look at the history of Sesame Street and all the ways its furry friends have helped children learn, grow, and build resilience for 50 years—and counting.
