Sesame Workshop Names New Licensing Reps for China, Mexico, and Brazil

(New York, NY, October 20, 2016)  Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, has named new licensing representatives in three countries: IMG in China, Televisa Consumer Products in Mexico, and Kasmanas Licensing in Brazil.

In China, IMG will oversee key categories such as accessories, food and beverages, homeware, skincare and beauty, and book publishing.  Since opening its China office three years ago, Sesame Workshop has built significant Sesame Street brand awareness through syndication of U.S. programming and Chinese New Year Special co-productions with CCTV Children’s Channel.  In addition, Sesame Street programming is available on China’s online video platforms, reaching more than 100 million viewers countrywide.  IMG also represents Sesame Street in Japan and South Korea.

In Mexico, Televisa Consumer Products will now oversee the Sésamo brand licensing.  In addition, the TV series, hosted by everybody’s favorite furry red monster Elmo, returns to Televisa’s channel 5 this month with 52 thirty-minute episodes.  Friends like Lola, Rosita, Cookie Monster, Bert, and Ernie invite viewers on an adventure filled with laughter and learning.

In Brazil, Kasmanas Licensing will be introducing the Sésamo brand.  A newly revamped show, formerly known as Vila Sesamo, will start airing at the end of the year and will feature many Brazilian celebrities.

“It’s a brand new day on Sesame Street,” said Maura Regan, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Global Consumer Products, Sesame Workshop.  “As we begin laying the foundation for our 50th anniversary in 2019, we are working with partners who will create a unified whole-child product offering from breakfast to bedtime.  We’re confident in the expertise of IMG, Televisa, and Kasmanas to develop strong licensing programs in market that will allow us to help kids grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.”
