USAA, a leading provider of insurance and financial solutions to more than 13 million members of the U.S. military, veterans, and their families, has provided major philanthropic support for a core Sesame Workshop initiative: Sesame Street for Military Families. Through this initiative, we created a suite of family caregiving resources to support military and veteran families as they care for a wounded, ill, or injured parent or relative. Our latest joint efforts provide resources to military families on the topics of COVID-19 and Racial Justice. Caring for Each Other addresses the impact of COVID-19 on military families and Coming Together provides the tools to help children appreciate their own identities and those of others and become upstanders against racism.

SC Johnson

SC Johnson is a family company at work for a better world, whose work with Sesame Workshop stems from its global efforts to create a healthier and more sustainable world today and for future generations. SC Johnson and Sesame Workshop are creating tools and resources to educate young children and caregivers on healthy and environmentally sustainable practices that can help families stay healthy, connected, and full of curiosity. These global educational resources are centered around the pillars of health, sustainability, and early education building blocks. New multilingual resources for families in the U.S, Latin America, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa will encourage positive hygiene behaviors and reinforce the importance of staying clean to avoid germs, building on Sesame Workshop’s health and hygiene programming around the world. Additional resources will promote sustainable practices for children and families and foster curiosity and the “science of why” from an early age.

The LEGO Foundation

In December 2018, the LEGO Foundation awarded a landmark $100 million to Sesame Workshop to bring the power of learning through play to children affected by the Rohingya and Syrian refugee crises. The grant will benefit some of the world’s most vulnerable children and call attention to the critical importance of learning through play to set them on a path of healthy growth and development. The program builds on the Workshop’s established relationship with the LEGO Foundation, which funded two initiatives bringing play-based learning to South Africa. In the Johannesburg area, Play Every Day empowers caregivers to engage with children in ways that contribute to their early development and learning outcomes. In the Eastern Cape, Play Well and Be Happy creates hands-on learning experiences for some of the most vulnerable children in South Africa.

Vincent Mai

Vincent Mai is the Chairman of the Sesame Workshop Global Advisory Group and former Chairman of the Sesame Workshop Board of Trustees. The Mai Family Foundation is a critical partner of Takalani Sesame in South Africa and has been integral to the success of Takalani’s community engagement efforts and the ongoing sustainability of our work in South Africa.

A valued Sesame partner for 15 years and counting, PNC supports learning-rich Sesame Street resources including Words are Here, There, and Everywhere and Happy, Healthy, Ready for School. Sesame friends like Elmo and Grover are featured in free, bilingual materials from digital storybooks to family guides to games and podcasts, all designed to spark curiosity, launch conversations, and make learning fun.

The Walton Family Foundation

As children went back to school in the fall of 2020 and families coped with uncertainty, anxiety, and changing routines, The Walton Family Foundation supported educators, families and communities across the United States, with support for the Sesame Street/CNN Town Hall "The ABC's of Back to School” and a new suite of Sesame Street “Health Emergencies” resources. These prepare children for different ways of schooling, support their social-emotional needs, and help parents and teachers maintain the vital school-family connection even from afar.

Through a campaign called “The Neighborhood,” DoorDash is contributing major support for Sesame Workshop’s global initiatives that help children grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. Putting community front and center, the campaign brings together Grammy- and Tony Award-winning actor and rapper Daveed Diggs and beloved Sesame Street Muppets Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Grover, and Rosita to celebrate the local neighbors who provide the many offerings available through DoorDash – including items like ramen, milk, birdseed, smoothies, and, of course, cookies.

With generous support from AT&T for Caring for Each Other: Health Emergencies, we created resources to help children identify challenges and express themselves during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These resources provide simple strategies for caregivers to offer comfort and build resilience during the “for-now normal” and through the transition to what’s next. AT&T’s support of Sesame Workshop’s Caring for Each Other initiative is part of the company’s $10 million Distance Learning and Family Connections Fund, created to give parents, students, and teachers tools they need for at-home learning.
