Knowings began his professional acting career at age 13 when, with the encouragement of one of his teachers, he was cast in Spike Lee’s acclaimed film Crooklyn. He went on to build an extensive television résumé, appearing in series including New York Undercover, Law & Order, 100 Centre Street, Taina, and Kevin Can Wait. His work with Nickelodeon also made television history when he and his twin sister, Christy, became the first siblings to star on separate shows on the network.
A familiar face to families, Knowings has been a longtime member of the Sesame Street cast, portraying Chris, the nephew of Gordon and Susan and a member of the Hooper’s Store team. His performance earned him Daytime Emmy Award nominations in 2009 and 2010 for Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series. His work on the landmark series has continued through its more recent seasons and specials.
Beyond the screen, Knowings has developed an extensive career behind the microphone. His voiceover work encompasses television and radio commercials, animation, narration, children’s programming, and interactive media. His commercial voice credits include campaigns for major brands and organizations such as Mastercard, DoorDash, Intel, ESPN, State Farm, Wendy’s, Toyota, Lipton, AT&T, Allstate, Six Flags, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, American Express, and Visible.
Knowings has also lent his voice to animated productions including the PBS KIDS series Nature Cat, where he voiced the recurring character Ronald, as well as Teenage Euthanasia. His voice work extends to children’s books, game apps, radio advertising, and other family-oriented media.
Equally at home in front of the camera or behind the microphone, Chris Knowings brings a distinctive combination of experience, versatility, warmth, and personality to every project.
