East Asia and Oceania

Sesame Workshop has a long history in East Asia and Oceania — and it’s as varied as these vast regions.

Since Sesame Street made its Australian debut in 1971, Sesame Workshop’s presence in this region has expanded greatly – onto screens and into schools, clinics, and community centers in Japan; educational play centers in South Korea; design and lifestyle partnerships across the region that bring our characters into the lives of millions; live family entertainment, and much, much more.

With Sesame Workshop offices in China and Japan and strong partnerships throughout East Asia and Oceania, Sesame Workshop is helping children grow smarter, stronger, and kinder in more ways with each passing year.

Generations of families have made happy Sesame Street memories in theme parks in Japan and Singapore, while PSAs have helped keep Indigenous Australians up-to-date with vaccines and children safer on Philippine roads. Fans across China are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Big Bird’s historic visit, while a live touring Sesame Street show makes its way across the country. Students in South Korea and across Japan learn from our trusted characters and research-based curriculum, while Sesame Street Mecha Builders brings STEM learning and fun to children in Japan, China, and Australia, and design, and retail partnerships offer something for everyone who wants a little more Sesame in their lives.
