Billy Barkhurst

Billy Barkhurst began working for Sesame Street in 2009 and transitioned to performing Ernie in 2014. Originally attracted to the Muppet sense of humor and heart as a child, as well as the endless potential for character performance stemming from the Jim Henson worlds, he has parlayed this interest into a career as a puppeteer and voiceover performer for film, television and theater. His work has been seen in commercials, industrials, short films and television. Barkhurst previously played “Buster” the Tarsier monkey, a principle character on the PBS health and exercise series Kid Fitness for two years and his puppetry has appeared with other organizations including Hornet Films, Chuck E. Cheese, The Puppet Company, The Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre and Basil Twist.
