Everybody’s favorite fairy-in-training, Abby Cadabby, is getting a new look, a 3-D animated look, in her new segment, “Abby’s Flying Fairy School.” The CGI animated segment, that has characters designed by Peter De Séve, the designer for Ice Age and many other feature films, is created to boost preschooler’s critical thinking skills (i.e., recognizing patterns, solving riddles, estimating and using clues to solve problems). Every episode will include this eight minute segment in which Abby and an eclectic gang of new friends - fairies, trolls and a gerbil called Niblet - attend the Fairy School led by Ms. Sparklenose. Together, Abby and her friends, Blögg and Gonnigan learn that magic alone isn’t the answer. It takes rhyme and reason and a helping hand (or wand) from our little viewers at home to guide our Muppet fairies through their preschool dilemmas. Abby’s on-air adventures continue online where preschoolers can engage with the story as it unfolds and make their own choices along the way, using their mouse as a magic wand. This daily adventure marks the first time in Sesame Street history that a character has been transformed into CGI animation.
