Glowing Moon Rocks

These glow-in-the-dark rocks are out of this world.
by Dina Anastasio

What you need:

  • Five to ten smooth rocks of varying sizes
  • Fluorescent tempera paint
  • Glow-in-the-dark stickers
  • Old newspapers

1. Take a walk outside together and gather several smooth rocks of various sizes.

2. Next, bring the rocks inside. Wash them off with water, and wipe them dry.

3. Spread out some old newspaper on a flat surface.

4. Get out the fluorescent tempera paint and the glow-in-the-dark stickers. Let your child go wild decorating all of the rocks.

5. After the rocks are decorated, put them in an airy space to dry.

6. Have a glow-in-the-dark scavenger hunt! Hide the rocks around the house, turn off the lights, and let your children go on a nighttime moon-rock hunt.
