March 1, 2006
Ulitsa Sezam, the engaging educational TV program for kids, produced by the nonprofit organization Sesame Workshop and Moscow-based DIXI-TV Productions, is back in studio at Mosfilm to tape its milestone 10th year. The new season, consisting of 52 episodes, has a new curriculum developed by Russian educators that covers the cognitive, social and physical development of the child.

Viewers can look forward to a more colorful new set created by Art Director Leonid Svintsitsky, and special celebrity appearances. Dima Bilan, for example, will sing one of 10 new songs especially produced for Ulitsa Sezam. And watch for a new actor behind beloved character Zeliboba. Boris Smelyanetz has joined the cast as Zeliboba.

Russian children are a big part of the new season. Last month they were invited to submit their very own Ulitsa Sezam-inpsired artwork to the producers. When the new season launches on CTC in September, the artwork will be displayed at the end of each show.

General producer Yefim Lubinsky and Executive Producer Yana Shelygina (Kostyleva) promise more surprises throughout the year. “The fascinating adventures are waiting for the Russian children in new Ulitsa Sezam season! And it may teach Russian children many important and useful life lessons,” says Lubinsky. The 10th anniversary celebration kicks off in May with a special event where guests will get a sneak peek at the new episodes the producers are currently shooting.

Ulitsa Sezam is produced with the generous support of the NestlĂ© Group, the world’s leading Food Company.
