SISIMPUR WELCOMES EIGHT NEW WRITERS TO THE FAMILY!

They are not furry or fuzzy, but they are fantastic and fun! They are the eight new Sisimpur script writers and they are gearing up for an original third season of the beloved children’s program.  This month, non profit educational organization Sesame Workshop and Nayantara, co-producers of Sisimpur, hosted a six-day writer’s workshop at the Brac Centre in Mahkhali for the writers who will create new adventures for Halum, Tuktuki, Ikri Mikri and Shiku!

The workshop was led by Annie Evans, an Emmy-award winning writer for Sesame Street in the U.S. Evans presented the team with innovative techniques for writing that include thinking about the world from the children’s perspective, and producing content that is engaging and funny, as well as educational and age-appropriate.

“Sisimpur is successful because of the incredible local team of writers and producers that stand behind the program and maintain its integrity,” said Evans. “I am confident that this fresh and imaginative new team will serve as the foundation for an outstanding third season.”

Nayantara’s Executive Producer Mr. Ratan Paul, Sesame Workshop Associate Producer Ms. Akiko Yabuki, actor Aly Zaker and writer Mohammad Zafar Iqbal were also present during the six-day workshop, assisting the creative efforts of the new team.  New segments will focus on literacy and numeracy, basic life-skills such as the importance of brushing their teeth, and the importance of prosocial behaviors like sharing with, caring about and respecting others through diverse formats including puppetry, live action, music, animation and more.

The Workshop concluded with a festive evening celebration including Baul songs, and was attended by Sisimpur’s Muppeteers, live-action film producers and Chief Creative Advisor, Mostafa Manwar. The new Sisimpur team will be ready to head into studio in early 2007.
