ZARA & OYSHO STORES LAUNCH SESAME STREET RETRO-STYLE LOUNGEWEAR IN GLOBAL DEAL

New York, NY, June 21, 2005
Everyone knows that preschoolers love Sesame Street, but did you know that teens and young adults find Elmo, Cookie, Bert and Ernie irresistible, too? Global trendsetting retailers Zara and Oysho (both owned by Inditex Group) will be launching Sesame Street loungewear for older fans next month featuring the beloved characters on tank, cami and babydoll tops, and hipster bottoms and boy shorts.  The loungewear sets, along with Sesame Street totes and pins, will be available in over 400 stores in 25 countries including Spain, Germany, Italy, the UK, Mexico, and across Latin America.

“Combining the distribution power of one of the world’s largest fashion retailers with the universal appeal of the Sesame Street characters allows us to reach generations of fans with fun and stylish retro designs,” said Francisco Arenas, Director of International Licensing of Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit education organization behind Sesame Street.

Proceeds from the sale of this Sesame Street program will go back into supporting Sesame Workshop’s educational projects for children around the world.
