PNC and Sesame Workshop

PNC Grow Up Great is a ten-year, $100 million investment in preparing young children from birth to age five for school and life. The most comprehensive corporate-based school readiness program in the country, PNC Grow Up Great aims to produce stronger, smarter, and healthier children, families, and communities. Sesame Workshop and PNC created the bilingual Learning is Everywhere multimedia kit to help parents maximize the teachable moments that occur throughout children’s daily routines.

School readiness means focusing on the whole child -- including cognitive, social, and emotional abilities. To this end, PNC Grow Up Great is investing in grants, sponsorships, broadcast and print content, communications, and volunteer efforts over ten years. Partnering with educational experts, including Sesame Workshop and Family Communications, Inc., PNC Grow Up Great is:

• Providing grants for ”best in class” early childhood development organizations and activities
• Engaging employees in volunteer efforts
• Communicating the importance of school readiness through diverse media outlets
• Providing resources and materials for employees and customers on how to enhance young children’s development
• Advocating in order to promote and increase awareness of the school readiness issue
• Preparing the 2.8 million children in PNC-served markets for school. Areas of preparation include language, literacy, science, creative arts, social and emotional growth, and physical health
