Nemours Health and Prevention Services pioneers new approaches to children’s wellness as a long-term endeavor. Its holistic approach involves the people and organizations dedicated to helping children learn and grow: schools, childcare providers, primary care services, communities, and families. While many American children’s hospitals and health systems include an advocacy component, Nemours is the only one making such an innovative and sustained investment in children’s health promotion and disease prevention. Providing Information, Perspective, and Support
The physician-led Nemours Center for Children’s Health Media creates engaging online, print, and video media about a wide range of health and family issues. According to Nemours, the center’s flagship website, KidsHealth.org, is the most-visited online source for children’s health, behavioral, and developmental information, receiving more than 150 million visits each year. U.S. News & World Report selected KidsHealth.org as one of its 30 Best of the Web picks for 2006, and TIME selected it as one of its 50 Coolest Websites in 2004. KidsHealth in the Classroom (http://kidshealth.org/classroom) provides free standards-based health curricula, activities, handouts, and other teaching materials.
